Everyone knows that there are questions that will never be answered, or at least not in this life. Yet we still ask them, hoping to triumph o’er our finiteness by convincing ourselves that we control our destiny. We ask our significant other if what we have will last forever, knowing that they don’t ultimately control it, but hoping that their answer will reassure us. We laugh as we talk about graduation plans, nervousness spilling through our body at the thought of choosing a college…so we just name the first ones we can think of. Searching for reassurance everywhere, trying to convince ourselves and each other that we control our future.

How foolish we humans are.

"The bottom line is, life is about learning, whether you’re in school or not. We are human. We make mistakes. But your lowest moment might also be the one where you begin to rise, and rise. So double back. Regroup. Brush yourself off, and try again."

"God loves us, not because we are lovable, but because He is love; not because He needs to receive, but because He delights to give."
C.S. Lewis (via asfierceaslions)

"In your life, you meet people. Some you never think about again. Some, you wonder what happened to them. There are some that you wonder if they ever think about you. And then there are some you wish you never had to think about again. But you do."
C. S. Lewis   (via 99parachutes)

"Passing tests doesn’t begin to compare with searching and inquiring and pursuing topics that engage us and excite us. That’s far more significant than passing tests and, in fact, if that’s the kind of educational career you’re given the opportunity to pursue, you will remember what you discovered."

The Allegorical Cave: Hallways of the Past

awakenedphilosopher:

Nothing reveals the change that has occurred inside of me over time quite so much as walking the halls of my old high school. It takes all these memories you have from a different time and directly contrasts them with your new sense of perspective.

The lockers lining the walls, crammed to the…
